“Sounds Like Freedom” is the second release by the Los Angeles record label, Domanda Music. Recorded in September 2021 in Verona, Italy, the album was conceived by bassist Rosa Brunello with the remarkable contributions of Yazz Ahmed, the “rising star” of British jazz and a pioneer of Arabic experimental music, Maurice Louca and the sensational Italian drummer Marco Frattini. Each cut on the album is the result of spontaneous improvisations, lovingly post-produced by Rosa Brunello and the founder of Domanda Music, Tommaso Cappellato.
Given the period of Covid, the album addresses the strange times we were collectively living as a society, when direct human contact was severely limited and many performance opportunities for musicians were cancelled around the world. Responding to this desire for connection, Rosa uses this album as an opportunity to take advantage of the influences of each of the artists who contributed to this recording. At the heart of this album is a celebration of the freedom and joy that is born from sharing experiences and spaces with others, especially now at a time when such simple pleasures can no longer be taken for granted.
