The quartet performes works in the American jazz tradition as well as originals compositions by leader Nico Gori. However, there is no shortage of forays into the musical culture of South America. The group includes pieces from the Brazilian tradition, such as the “choro” and the “bossa nova”. The Young Lions are notable for their well seasoned and refined arrangements performed with great energy and improvisational interplay.

Massimo Nunzi (Rome, May 25, 1962) is an Italian composer, trumpeter and musicologist. He composes and directs for multiple platforms; from string quartets to polyphonic choirs, from jazz big bands to symphony orchestras. In recent years, Nunzi continues to compose, perform and use his musical expertise as a commentator for radio, TV, cinema and theater. He has developed original and highly interactive formats for disseminating music to the general public. He is the creator of the documentary ‘Jazz- Instructions for Use’, published by Elena Somarè, which teaches the story of jazz to an audience of non-experts in an informative and engaging way.
