Since 2009 AmbriaJazz OVD has been organizing and promoting musical and cultural events throughout the province of Sondrio. Notably recognized for their annual summer festivals held in magnificent alpine landscapes AND historical towns located in Valtellina, the association also presents educational projects for children in schools as well as other events throughout the year.
AmbriaJazz OVD is one of the few organizations that did not suspend its programming and summer festival due to Covid in 2020. Instead, making prudent modifications following health guidelines, the organization was able to emerge with both greater potential and resources to safely present programs and events in 2021, the year in which the Green Festival officially began its transformation.
From the beginning, in 2009, AmbriaJazz ODV has operated as a Volunteer Organization . It has 11 members and 29 volunteers; 12 of whom are regularly active and 17 who occasionally donate their time and skills. Giovanni Busetto is the founder of AmbriaJazzODV and has acted as the legal representative and Artistic Director of the AmbriaJazz Festival since the founding of the association. Vice President – Matteo Codega since 2.11.2021.
The Association carries out cultural initiatives of various kinds; predominantly musical concerts which are often accompanied by theatrical performances and expressions of contemporary and avant-garde art, including spaces dedicated to photography and the figurative arts. It collaborates with numerous territorial institutions and through these collaborations, volunteerism and third part sectors, AmbriaJazz OVD has become part of the social fabric of the province of Sondrio.
In particular, the Association organizes and promotes an itinerant festival of jazz and contemporary music that bears the name AmbriaJazz, a “cultural laboratory” that involves the entire region. The Festival offers a curated selection of musicians from the Italian and European jazz scene, giving attention to new talents and emerging artists. Innovative cultural proposals rich in content, provide ample space for partnerships and interaction between genres, arts and cultures. The projects included in the festival receive support from the Patrons of the Province of Sondrio, the MIC, the Associazione Italiana Turismo Responsabile, Valtellina Turismo, Italia Jazz, IJVAS (Il Jazz Va a Scuola)
In addition to enhancing the cultural heritage of the valley and the beauty of the diverse concert locations, AmbriaJazz serves to bring people together in the common interest, deep appreciation and respect for humanity, the environment, and nature.
Over the years AmbriaJazz ODV has continually embraced and fostered a “Green philosophy”. Modeling sustainability, AmbriaJazz has also become a teaching entity that encourages tourists, travelers and the local populations to engage in green practices, for example, arriving to the concert locations on foot ( nature hikes) or by bicycle. During the festival, special attention and consideration are given to providing accessibility and inclusion of those with special needs. Our volunteers accompany the blind and provide assistance for those with limited mobility and for individuals using wheelchairs. The festival can arrange for the use of Joëlettes (single-wheel wheelchairs) for arriving at more remote concert locations, thus guaranteeing the enjoyment for all populations.
The Association is also able to reach an extensive network of stakeholders thanks to up-to-date communication venues; the website www.ambriajazzfestival.it, newsletters, and social media platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp are the main digital communication channels in addition to newspaper articles, radio and television interviews.
The experience developed over 16 years of planning, coordinating and implementing cultural events has enabled the company to nurture a large network of contacts.
Today the festival offers quality and professionalism in the presentation of cultural events.
