Olmo Chittò vibraphone, Alessandro Ruocco drums
Jazz music intertwines with the legends of the Dolomites manifesting the voices of several female figures in traditional tales and mythology. The luminous “hue” of the singable melodies are a devotion to these benign figures with their mysterious aura of witchcraft and sorcery. Aural environments are created through jazz improvisation in dialogue with classical music and exotic Latin sounds.
Listeners will be led to imagine themselves traveling to the amphitheaters of the “pale mountains”, a space of meditation in which to contemplate on their own personal relationship with the mountainous environment. The listener will be enveloped in the cultural messages that these feminine figures sought to convey; lessons about love and respect for the rhythms of life imposed by the mountains and the manifestations of nature. As taught in the legend of Tanna, Queen of Winter and Ice, life often has to be accepted on its own terms; one can try to understand it but it is not always possible to control or change it in one’s own favor.
